Make Silk Poinsettias Glow

It’s never too early to start planning your next magazine-worthy Christmas display. Each year, it’s fun to find new ways to display your favorite traditional ways to display your beloved traditional decorations. Take silk poinsettias. It’s always lovely to display them in some fashion, but the same old potted display is tired after all these years. You need a fresh method of display for your silk poinsettias and we have the perfect fix: An illuminated poinsettia display.

Now, this project requires silk poinsettias because you will not be able to keep live poinsettias in water using this type of arrangement. Make sure you have a good-sized bunch of silk poinsettias to start. You will also need:

-A clear, bottomless decorative cylinder or square jar

-A spool of sheer decorative ribbon, at least 1.5 inches wide. Shimmery gold or silver is perfect for the holidays.

-White or clear lights. An electric window candle works best. You can add more than one if you’d like

-Scotch tape

Find the perfect spot for a bright Christmas display. A small stable in a forlorn corner is a prime location. Now you can begin to form your poinsettia display. Set your electric candles on your display surface to start. Then, wind your decorative ribbon around your decorative cylinder so it is completely covered. Hold the ends in place with a piece of scotch tape. Finally, arrange your poinsettia bunch in the center of your cylinder. If you use plenty of flowers, you should have no trouble getting them to stay in place. Just lean them slightly over the edges.

This is so quick and painless that you will probably wonder what to do next when you are through. You can always make more than one! Play around with different color combinations and cylinder styles. White poinsettias with gold ribbon or pink poinsettias with silver ribbon are two lovely combinations. Spend an afternoon working on these poinsettia arrangements and soon you’ll have one for every room in the house!
