A Quick and Easy Memorial Day Dessert

Once you have finished enjoying your barbecue feast, treat your guests to a delicious and light desert with a red, white and blue theme. Best of all, your grocery lists will consist of just three ingredients and two supplies. Try out this Memorial Day dessert this year.

  • Strawberries
  • Blueberries
  • Yogurt or Whipped Cream
  • Plastic Glasses
  • Disposable Spoons

Buying Supplies
Your local party supply center or grocery store will have disposable wine or parfait glasses. Choose a clear version that will show off the beauty of the fresh fruit.

Preparing the Fruit
Once you get home with your fresh produce, make sure to rinse it well. Then, take your big, beautiful strawberries and cut them into bite-sized slices. Put your blueberries in one bowl, strawberries in another, and a spoon in each.

Layer Your Parfait
Start with by placing a few blueberries in the bottom of your glass. Next, add a dollop of your yogurt or whipped cream. Add a layer of strawberries and another dollop of your yogurt or whipped cream. Continue alternating until you get to the top of the glass. When you do, ad one large strawberry cut in half and a couple blueberries. Just store your layered desserts in the fridge until it is time to serve them up.

This dessert is a great way to get the kids in the kitchen and involved in your Memorial Day preparations. Let each of them spoon one of the ingredients and make sure to give them the credit when your guests rave about how delicious it was.
