Something about these pieces of backyard decor just invite you to gather around them in a circle and spend quality time with friends and family. Long after the sun goes down, fire pits make it possible to enjoy the outdoors.

Fire pits used to consist of metal rings that you would fill with ire wood. Today, this popular outdoor item has gotten a fresh and modern makeover. They are now available as contemporary fire tables, rustic patina pits, and even elegant chimeneas. Choosing a Fire Pit

When choosing, think about the overall style and decor of your home. Your outdoor rooms should be an extension of the home and decorated in the same style. Secondly, size matters. Make sure that the pit that you choose one that is sized appropriately for your deck or patio. Make sure to allow enough room for you to position chairs or curved benches around the fire pit. When it comes right down to it, it does not matter which fire pit you choose, you are sure to love it.

Fire Pit Safety Tips

I can’t talk about fire pits without taking a moment to talk about safety. A fire pit can be a wonderful addition to your yard but you must also take proper measures to make sure that you adhere to some safety rules.

  1. Fire pits should be placed on a solid surface. This surface should be able to hold up to the heat generated by the fire pit. Slate slabs are a decorative and safe solution.
  2. Place the fire pit in an open area. You do not want there to be any low hanging trees, nearby curtains, or major structures close to the open fire.
  3. Keep a fire extinguisher close by just in case. Any time you are using a grill or have an open flame you should also have a fire extinguisher close by.
  4. Never let children light the fire pit. This should always be done by an adult when the children are not close to the fire pit.
