Holiday Decorating with Apothecary Jars

You can’t walk through a home décor store without running into beautiful apothecary jars. These popular vessels aren’t just pretty, they are an inexpensive way to update your decorations season after season. These jars look great arranged on a mantle, entry table, dining room buffet, dining table, kitchen island, or display ledge. Switch out the contents for a fresh and festive look this holiday season.

Shiny and Matte Christmas Ornament Assortment

When you are purchasing apothecary jars, keep a couple tips in mind. Purchase jars in odd numbers; clusters of 3, 5, or 7 look the best. Purchase jars in varying shapes and heights, to create balance and interest. Once you find the size and number you need, all that is left is filling them – and the possibilities are endless.

Candy
All your favorite candies are available during the holidays in red, green, and white. Fill smaller apothecary jars with M&Ms, mints or gumballs. Medium jars are ideal for Hershey Kisses, mini candy canes, and Jordan almonds. Those nice, big jars are perfect for ribbon candy, old-fashioned candy sticks, and of course, candy canes.

Ornaments
Ornaments aren’t just for decorating trees anymore. These shiny balls of joy look great on wreaths, in bowls, and yes, in apothecary jars! Go monochromatic and keep all balls the same color or get fun with things and pack your jar with ornaments in a variety of colors and sizes.

Nature Items
Fill your apothecary jars with nature’s favorites and you can keep them filled from Halloween through Christmas. Scented pinecones in large jars will keep the room smelling amazing all season long while acorns are the perfect size for smaller jars.

Garlands
Winter garlands are available in all shapes and sizes, from beaded strands to colorful branches. No matter which you choose, they will look great when stuffed into an apothecary jar. Stuff it in there haphazard for a casual look or carefully loop them against the interior wall for a cleaner appearance.
