DIY: March Wreath Tutorial

Every month we do a tutorial for a beautiful seasonal wreath and March is no different. For our March wreath, I was inspired by St. Patrick’s Day but I also wanted a wreath that would be beautiful throughout the spring. What I came up with was an all-season wreath that was given a St. Patty’s Day flare with the addition of a bow. When the holiday is over, simply trade out the bow for a different one and you have a wreath that will last you all spring and into the summer.

Supplies:

  • Styrofoam Wreath Form
  • White Yarn
  • Tacky Glue
  • Artificial Dogwood Branch
  • Wire Edged St. Patty’s Day Ribbon
  • Clover Embellishments
  • Scissors and Wire Cutters

Step 1:

Wrap the wreath form with the white yarn, making sure to glue down your starting and ending points. Stop wrapping the yarn around the form around 6 inches from the end so that we can do the next step.

Step2:

Attach the dogwood branch to the wreath using floral pins or floral wire that you have made into floral pins. This should be done at that 6-inch length of form that you left unwrapped, as illustrated in the video. Bend the wire in the center of the stem occasionally, until the stem has been shaped to gently wrap around the wreath form.

Step 3:

Finish wrapping the yarn up that last six inches of the wreath form, covering both the rest of the form and the end of the dogwood branch. Secure the end of the ribbon with another dab of glue and let dry.

Step 4:

Use your wire edged ribbon to create a multi-loop bow. Secure the bow to the top of the wreath, covering the dogwood branch. Once it has been secured using a length of floral wire go ahead and embellish the bow by securing a clover to the center of the bow with another dab of glue.

Step 5:

Hang your March wreath from a wreath hook and enjoy it’s beauty for the rest of the month and into the spring.
