Finding the perfect décor can be a bit of a challenge sometimes, but when you create your own you get exactly what you want. Creating artificial flower arrangements with hot glue is easy and gives you long lasting décor perfect for your color scheme. Homemade artificial flower arrangements are easy to craft with hot glue and perfect for weddings, parties and make wonderful housewarming gifts.
Getting started you need to have a few things – artificial flowers, floral foam, wire cutters, Spanish moss/ground cover, a container, hot glue sticks, and a hot glue gun. Ideally, if you are going to be creating numerous floral arrangements you will want to use a low temperature hot glue gun with low temp hot glue sticks. Low temp hot glue sticks are easier to work when making a floral arrangement and ideal for applying to floral foam. However, a standard temperature hot glue gun and general purpose hot glue sticks will do the trick too.
I recommend gluing the bottom of the floral foam to the base of the container before you begin. Next, select the largest flowers to begin your arrangement. I recommend using an odd number of each type of flowers and 3-5 varieties. Remember when you are making an arrangement that will be visible from all sides to make all angles equally appealing. Cut the flowers to your desired length then insert them into the floral foam. After you are happy with the placement and length of each flower, apply hot glue to the stem and insert it back into place. Applying hot glue to the bottom of each stem secures the flower firmly in place and gives your arrangement added durability. After you have the largest flowers firmly attached; use the next size down and repeat the process. We recommend finishing up your floral arrangement by adding filler flowers or leaves.
Once all your flowers are adhered to the floral foam attach the Spanish moss (or groundcover) around the stems to hide the floral foam. Put your now completed arrangement can be in place and admire your one of a kind creation.
