Tropical Flowers
A flower is something beautiful and has always attracted and puzzled human beings since time
immemorial. We have studied and classified countless species of flowers in a bid to understand them better. Tropical flowers are found in abundance in places like Hawaii, they have immense cultural
significance, and are an integral part of the region’s flora and fauna. When I think of tropical flowers I think of orchids, Birds of Paradise, Heliconia and Proteas among other varieties.
These flowers have striking colors, and are appreciated the world over.
Tropical flowers found in the Pacific tropical regions are Anthuriums, Ginger, and tropical
orchids. Potted tropical flowers need plenty of sunshine and warm weather to grow, and places in the tropical belts of the planet, especially certain tropical islands, are ideal spots for these flowers to grow naturally. These flowers have beautiful pastel colors and have wonderful fragrances. Tropical flowers are stunning visually and they are seen in arrangements all over the world.
The cultural significance of flowers cannot be under emphasized. Our ancient predecessors used
flowers as offerings to the goddesses and gods, and that has remained in our culture. Some customs include flowers to welcome guests and visitors to their land. The Hawaiians have used tropical
flowers in lei to greet their guests since ancient times, and when we think of tropical flowers such as the Dendrobium Orchid Blossoms, we cannot but think of Hawaii. The region of Southeast Asia also has plenty of tropical flowers, such as the Star Silk flower, Tiger Orchid and Delphiniums. The Vanda Orchid grows in abundance in countries like Thailand and Indonesia.
Tropical flowers are a visual treat, with riots of colors in both pastel shades as well as in the darker and subdued tones. The fragrances of these tropical flowers range from wild musk to lighter notes. Tropical flowers are widely used in flower arrangements because of their striking petal arrangements and unique shapes. Healers use extracts from tropical flowers to cure numerous diseases, and visually they have a calming and soothing effect on the senses.
When you look at a tropical flower you cannot but marvel at the beauty of its design. Tropical orchids are very popular the world over, for their lines and simplicity. Tropical flowers simply make our planet earth a beautiful place to live.
